The Battlefield Part 2
Transformers
- Last week we talked about:
- How our mind is a battlefield.
- How satan could get our thinking, stinking.
- This is one of those topics we should circle back to……
- If satan has control of our mind he will control every aspect of our life. “So goes the mind so goes the heart, body and soul.
- Ephesians 6:12 (NLT) 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
- But….. We have another foe “enemy”.
- Romans 8:7-8 (NLT) 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
- Satan and the sinful nature.
- Jeremiah 17:9 (NLT) 9 “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?
- Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NLT) 26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.
- The heart is no longer an issue.
- Love and Anger.
- Satan and The sinful nature.
- How in the world can I overcome this?
- We have New Heart and The Holy Spirit.
- Romans 12:2 (NLT) 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
- You have to become a Transformer!
- The word “transform ” is the Greek word metamorpho. It means to transfigure or transform one’s appearance.
- Matthew 17:1-2 (NLT) 1 Six days later Jesus took Peter and the two brothers, James and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone. 2 As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light.
- God wants to Transform us into being the Light of the world. “Dim”
- We talk different, walk different, act different.
- Theres a glow about us.
- The goal is to stay engaged in the transformation process.
- The Lord painted a picture of this transformation process.
- Ephesians 2:4-6 (NLT) 4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
- Spiritually we are seated with Christ, but our mind is not yet.
- Lets go back to…….
- 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT) 18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed(transformed) into his glorious image
- What is The Glory of the Lord – It’s Gods heart and mind “character”.
- As we are getting closer to God, we are being transformed more and more to reflect his character.
- 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (ESV) 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive, to obey Christ,
- Take every thought captive – examine them!make sure its a good thought, make sure its the will of God.
- The mind effects the Heart
- Don’t entertain or engage with evil thoughts.
- Satan wants us engaged with him “to him”.
- Romans 12:2 (NLT) 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think, Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
- What will the fruit look like. “Real Time”.
- Eph. 2:6, 2 Cor. 10:5, Rom. 12:2
- As we are growing, being transformed, we gain a heavenly perspective.
- Because of this we will have less evil thoughts.
- We will get better and better at taking our thoughts captive.
- We will get better and better at examining our thoughts and determining whether or not they are the will of God, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
- The things that used to be a big deal, isn’t that big of a deal anymore.
- The higher “or closer” we get to God the fainter satans voice gets.
- Our Sinful nature separates us from God.
- When we accept Christ he brings a new heart.
- He also brings this box with him.
- This is for the sinful nature “Venom”.
- Christ locks the sinful nature up in this box and gives us the key.
- I did all i could do for you….
- A New Heart, The Holy Spirit, locked up your sinful nature.
- He gives the ability to do this through the power of the Holy Spirit.
- We have a responsibility to illustrate the heart and mind of Christ.
